Meet Your Instructor

My name is Mark Fancher and I am a 3D Animator that specializes in Houdini.
For the last 7 years, I have been focused in the fields of 2D and 3D motion design, animation, and visual effects. I am a constant learner who loves to collaborate, innovate, and I’m always striving to push my skills to the next level.

Need some motivation?

Watch Mark’s motivational intro video from the course. It’s certain to get you motivated. If this doesn’t make you ready to roll up your sleeves and pants to get started, we don’t know what will.

Full-Length Sample

Sitting in front of Houdini for the first time, first impressions, and things to note. In this full-length sample chapter from Mark’s on-line class, We’ll explore a little bit of the Houdini interface, and take you from nothing to having a rendered image as quickly as possible. We’ll also show you the power of Houdini, by pulling back the curtain.

Still want to see more details?

This interview will take you behind the scenes. Mark Fancher stops by to answer questions about his new course, Stop Being Afraid of Houdini, and talk about the ins and outs of putting together this course. We even show some great outtakes from the 40+ hours of recording.

Outtakes

A lot goes into putting a course this long together. Hours of editing means lots of outtakes. Watch some of the many outtakes from Mark’s recordings.

FAQ:
Q: Can I take this course using the free version of Houdini?
A: Yes. The free version does not export Alembic files, but we have provided the exports for you – where possible – in order to continue lessons in Cinema4D.

Q: Do I have to know or own Cinema4D to enjoy this course?
A: No, but we will cover how to take your project into Cinema4D for finishing on occasion. You will still learn a ton even if you aren’t using Cinema4D.

Q: Do I need Redshift to enjoy this course?
A: No. Mark covers how to use Houdini’s built-in render engine in this course as well and you can skip the Redshift sections.

Q: Should I take this course if I don’t know anything about 3D?
A: It’s probably not a good idea. This course is for intermediate to advanced 3D designers with a background in other 3D programs such as Cinema4D, Maya, or Blender.

Q: Is there ever a sale or student discount?
A: Currently we don’t offer student discounts or plan on having sales. We try to price these as low as possible so they’re affordable but also compensate the instructors and staff. It’s a difficult balance, but we think it’s a fair price for their hundreds of hours of hard work.

Q: Can I download these videos?
A: Unfortunately, piracy has ruined this option for online courses, but streaming is available at many resolutions for bandwidth purposes.

Q: What video playback platform is used?
A: Playback is on Thinkific.com which uses a playback style similar to Wistia. The player will play at multiple speeds up to 2X and remember where you were in your lesson when you return.

Q: How long do I get access to this course?
A: LIFETIME access. We will continue to update this course to adapt to software updates as long as possible.

*Renders, simulations, and caches have been cut or sped up in editing

to compress video duration. Chapters are updated regularly for compatibility therefore runtimes may change.

Due to piracy issues, all sales are final.
