Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a fun experimental motion graphics project called “Motion in Chaos.” The idea is to explore how realistic ragdoll physics can be combined with cinematic motion design to create a surreal and dynamic animation sequence.
The project visualizes human movement in slow motion — characters falling, tumbling, and colliding in a way that blends comedy, realism, and abstract ragdoll hit storytelling. I used Blender’s physics engine and After Effects for compositing, along with some procedural camera motion to keep things fluid and spontaneous.
I’m particularly experimenting with:
-
Timing and weight simulation using dynamic constraints
-
Integrating motion blur and particle effects for impact realism
-
Color palettes that shift with emotional intensity
-
Sound design synced with the “chaotic flow” of movement
Question for the community:
What’s your approach to balancing realistic physics with artistic control in motion design?
Do you prefer sim-based workflows (like ragdoll rigs and dynamics) or keyframe everything manually for full control?
Any feedback, insights, or similar project references would be amazing!
