Here’s a 3D motion graphic video I designed and built for GoArmy.com social channels were we highlighted some of the high level benefits of joining Army ROTC for college students. I wanted to create some drama and prestige with the music selection and dark setting to bring contrast to the attention grabbing text lockups as we move through the hall. Then I cut to several close ups of the ROTC logo and pulled back as colored smoke filled the floor to reveal the ARMY ROTC text that accompanied the logo.
I began with a illustrator vector of the logo and prepared it to bring into C4D where I extruded the shapes, then textured and lit with Octane Render. Next I built out of simplistic hall scene with a spline path and clones of large rectangles standing vertically. I prepared text lockups of each key benefits message and prepared a camera move using the same spline as mentioned previously. Finally I prepped several close crop cameras to move across the final logo to create some anticipation for the upcoming reveal and added some emphasis by using an X-Particles Exposia Smoke simulation to move from behind the logo towards the camera, covering the floor and colliding with ARMY ROTC text and effecting its material color.
Software used: Adobe Illustrator, C4D, X-Particles, Octane, After Effects.
